Now you will soon be ready for the 3rd step in the process of dog leash training. After your dog has grown comfortable with the idea of both the collar and leash you can begin to walk him around the house while you are holding one end of the leash.

Make sure that the leash is held loosely and your dog should walk beside you, not in front or behind you. Any time that you are feeling the puppy pull against the leash and he attempts to move forward and away from your side you must take action. Stop what you are doing and call your pet by name so that he will return to his position by your side.

When he has returned to the proper place you can once again begin walking with him. If you offer lots of praise and affection when he is performing properly it will make your dog happy and encourage him to continue to show you the desired behavior.
